I give because I care…and it’s free! – GoodSearch

by Neil Minetto on December 24, 2008

There is a new type of search engine out there…well it’s not a new search engine because it uses Yahoo! search, but it puts a twist on it.

When you go to goodsearch.com the first thing you do is choose your favorite cause. Then you can start searching the web. Every time you search for something goodsearch.com will donate $.01 to your cause. It’s that simple.

So, what’s the catch? GoodSearch makes their money off of advertising so the more people they get to use their search service the more appealing they are to advertisers. In return, you get ads when you search and they donate to your cause for doing something you do everyday, searching.

GoodSearch has made it pretty easy to use their service, they have a toolbar you can install for IE5 to IE7 or you can add it to your list in your search box for IE7, Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

I know I’ll be using goodsearch.com as my way of searching the web from here on out. Give it a try, www.goodsearch.com.

I suspect we are in an era of greater compassion. The question is whether this new form of microgiving will add up. I believe at the very least it will make individuals more sensitive to the needs of others and perhaps appreciative for their own condition.

All the best, and Happy New Year
