If you aren’t using Google Reader, you should, heaven knows I just got mine up and running. Before Reader, I would use an RSS reader called “Feeds” on my iPhone and have 15-20 feeds I would skim through, then I found Google Reader. It’s a really simple and easy way to keep all of the feeds you subscribe to organized. My friend, John Higley, told me how he has over 500 feeds he keeps up on using Google Reader and I was convinced. This guy is one of the most informed guys I know, and guess what, he let me subscribe to one of his folders and shared items. I guess they are shared and so everyone can see them but I get some good stuff from it.

All you have to do is create a Google Account and off you go. If you already have a Gmail account you are one step ahead. Just click on the link in the top nav:

Once you are in, it prepopulates with some default feeds. You can add any feed by clicking on this button on the left:

All you need to look for is the RSS feed icon on a site or blog,  click on it and paste the web address in and voila, you have add that feed. I like the discover link too, but be careful, you’ll spend hours looking at all of the feeds you can subscribe to. There’s no hurry to add every feed yo can think of. In your surfing, just look for the icon and add them as you go. It’s easy, try it.

You can also type in a web address and it will look for the RSS feed. Once you have added a ton of feeds you will want to put them in categories. You can then just click on the category and it will show you all the feeds in one spot and you can cruise through them and see what interests you.

With my iPhone RSS reader, until it integrate with Google Reader, I just share out my folders instead of adding individual feeds. I add all my feeds through Google Reader and I can read through my feeds on my 2 hour commute to and from work! It all works together.
